Kırıkkale University, which successfully continues its
project-based collaborations with many universities in different geographies of
the world, continues its internationalization activities by including its
students as well as the academic staff.
In line with this goal, the 1st International Student
Symposium was organized by our Faculty of Medicine as an outcome of the
Scientist Corridor project, which was implemented for the first time with
semester 1 and 2 students within the scope of the Evidence-Based Medicine Practices
course.
Four partner universities, Gadjah Mada University
(Indonesia), Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (Tajikistan), Putra
Malaysia University (Malaysia), and Universum College (Kosovo), also contributed
to the student symposium.
The participants of the Opening Session included our Rector
Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Başalan and Prof. Dr. Erol
Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Dilek Keskin, Vice Dean of
the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Atike Tekeli Kunt, Head of Medical Hospital
Prof. Dr. Turgut Deniz, Head of International Office Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeynep
Başer, Head of Press and Public Relations Office, Göksun Ünlü, as well as Rector
of Gadjah Mada University Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
Prof. Dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, faculty members and students from Gadjah Mada
University in Indonesia, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Muhabbatzoda Jiyonkhon Qurbon
and International Relations Specialist Akbar Toshov from Avicenna Tajik State
Medical University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmah Hanim Binti Mohamed Ariff from
Putra Malaysia University.
After the Opening Session, the online symposium continued
with the moderation of Prof. Dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, Dean of the Faculty of
Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, and the keynote speech of Prof. Dr. Ova
Emilia, Rector of Gadjah Mada University, entitled "Evidence-Based
Medicine in Indonesia and Cochrane: The Role of Indonesia". After the
questions and comments, 18 students from Gadjah Mada University made poster
presentations with 8 different speeches.
Then, Prof. Dr. Muhabbatzoda Jiyonkhon Qurbon, Vice Rector
of Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, delivered his speech entitled
"Research Competence of the Modern Student". After the questions and answers, the first
session of the symposium was completed.
In the second session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmah Hanim Binti
Mohamed Ariff from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of
Putra Malaysia gave a speech entitled "Advanced Biopolymer Based Physical
Performance" and Prof. Dr. Recep Çalın, Director of the Graduate School of
Natural and Applied Sciences, Kırıkkale University, gave a speech entitled
"Production of Biomaterials". The first day of the symposium was
completed after the presenters answered the questions and remarks of the
participants.
The second day of the symposium continued face-to-face and
online. The morning session started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Dilek
Keskin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and it was followed by the keynote
speech of Recep Aktur, Professor of Public Health, entitled "Earthquake
Disaster Management". Prof. Dr. Recep Aktur gave information about the
earthquake disaster in our country and the importance of the establishment of
field hospitals. Then, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zade Suhrob Gafforovoch, Head of the Scientist Training Unit from Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, shared
current data on the benefits of artificial intelligence in the field of healthcare
and its use in diagnosis and treatment with his speech entitled "Prospects
and Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine".
The morning session was completed with the panel speeches
of the graduates. Dr. Gökçen Alagöz, a general practitioner, Ahmet Melih
Erdoğan, resident in the Department of Neurosurgery, Enes Nusret Çelik, resident
in the Department of Radiology, and Dr. Ahmet Yalçınkaya, a postdoctoral
researcher in the Department of Biochemistry, Uppsala University Faculty of
Medicine participated in the panel discussion.
The symposium continued in the afternoon with poster presentations by 38 undergraduate students from our Faculty of Medicine. After the questions and answers of the participants, the International Student Symposium, which was organized for the first time this year with the contributions of our partner universities ended.
