2nd International
Symposium on “the Practice of Coexistence in Islamic Culture” was hosted by our
University on 05-07 October. The symposium was organized in cooperation with
our university's Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic Countries Application and
Research Center, Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, State Islamic University of
Yogyakarta, Indonesia Sunan Kalijaga and Azerbaijan Fund for the Promotion of Moral
Values.
The opening ceremony of
the symposium was attended by Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan Religious Affairs
Committee Dr. Seyyad Salahli, Kırıkkale Deputy Mayor Halil Danacı, Our Rector
Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan, Rector of Azerbaijan Theological Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Akil Shirinov and Assistant Assoc. Dr. Mirniyaz Mursalov, Our Vice Rector Prof.
Dr. Mehmet Basalan, President of the Fund for the Promotion of Moral Values Dr.
Mehman Ismayilova and Deputy Hatem Gulmemmedov and Fond Chief Advisor Aynur

The opening ceremony
started with a moment of silence for the martyrs of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, and
the Azerbaijani National Anthem and our National Anthem. It continued with the
recitation of the Quran by our Faculty of Islamic Sciences student Muhammed
Emin Çoşkun.
The opening speech was made by the Chairman of the Symposium Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Şahin Ahmetoğlu. In the program, our Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Erten, Azerbaijan Religious Affairs Committee Deputy Minister Dr. Seyyad Salahlı, Rector of Azerbaijan Theological Institute Assoc. Dr. Akil Shirinov, President of the Fund for the Promotion of Spiritual Values, Dr. Mehman Ismayilov, Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan made a speech. Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan Religious Affairs Committee Dr. Seyyad Salahlı expressed his gratitude to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish People for their support to Azerbaijan in the Karabakh War.
After the speeches, the
program continued with the conference titled "Conceptual Framework of Coexistence".
Prof. Dr. Sönmez Kutlu from Ankara University Faculty of Theology made the
opening speech of the symposium.
In the first 2 days of
the program, 18 sessions were held with the participation of 102 speakers
within the framework of the main topics of society, education and Islam.
The symposium ended with
the closing meeting held on the third day of the program. General evaluation
was made at the closing meeting. It was emphasized that the number of interdisciplinary
studies should be increased in the symposiums to be carried out in the future.
The team of Indonesia State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga, who attended the event, suggested that the 3rd symposium be held in Indonesia. The symposium ended with the best wishes of the participants.
